If you want to transfer a domain from one domain registrar to another, you will have to pass through a couple of safety steps. One of them is obtaining a unique EPP code from the present registrar – provided that you are the domain registrant, since the code is sent to the domain owner’s email and nobody else can see it. You’ll have to give this code to the new domain registrar, otherwise they will not be able to initiate the domain transfer. The EPP authentication codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of numbers or special characters such as commas or dots, which can be easily misentered, so make sure you copy/paste the correct code. As an additional safety measure, the transfer authorization code for a domain name may be changed on a regular basis. Certain domain name registrars refer to this code as a domain password, an Auth key or a domain secret as well.
