An access log contains a record of all of the files that have been requested by the visitors while surfing around your website. The list is detailed, so in case you have a webpage with 2 embedded images, for instance, all of the three files will be in the log, not only the page. An access log usually includes the date, the Operating System, the Internet browser and the IP address for every single file in human-readable form, so you can get a more complete picture about the hottest files on your website. The log, that is also typically called "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics that you normally get with a hosting account, not a replacement. An illustration why you might need this type of a log is if you would like to use some software on your PC to prepare a report about the website’s efficiency, but you do not want to use the regular graphs and tables that come with the server-generated site statistics.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
When you opt for one of our website hosting packages, you'll get thorough access logs for all your websites. When you sign in to your Hepsia CP, you can check out the Access/Error Logs section where you will see an extensive list of the domains and subdomains you have added or created within the hosting account. You will simply need to click on the On button, that's located on the right-hand side of each and every hostname and our cloud platform shall start generating logs immediately. To disable this function, you'll have to follow the same exact steps and click on the Off button. The domains and subdomains can be managed independently and at any time. You'll find a download link in the Logs section of the CP for any log produced by our system, so you can save the file to your desktop or notebook and view it or use it via some log processing software.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function can be enabled through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this can be done separately for each and every domain or subdomain which you have within your account. As soon as you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. A single click shall trigger the log generation and another one will disable it, so you can control this function with great ease. A Download link within the same section will enable you to save the created content as a text file, that you can then use on your notebook or computer. Even when the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
